Common questions
I never received the SMS verification code.
We use Supabase phone OTP. Codes usually arrive within 10 seconds. If you don't see one: confirm the number you entered, check that you haven't blocked short-code SMS, and try again. Carriers occasionally drop the first attempt. If three attempts fail, email us with the phone number you're using and we'll look at the auth logs.
My team isn't showing up after onboarding.
Onboarding scrapes your USTA NorCal roster — this can take 1–3 minutes for large teams. If you closed the app mid-scrape, reopen it and the cron will finish in the background; refresh the dashboard once it does. If your team still isn't appearing 5+ minutes after onboarding completes, email us with your USTA team ID.
The lineup optimizer says "not enough available players."
How many players you need depends on your league's format:
- 18 & Over — 8 players (2 singles + 3 doubles)
- 40 & Over — 7 players (1 singles + 3 doubles)
- Combo — 6 players (3 doubles, no singles)
- Mixed — 6 players (3 mixed doubles, no singles)
- 55 & Over, 65 & Over, Daytime — 5 players (1 singles + 2 doubles)
On the Lineup tab, scroll to Player Availability and check the box next to each player who can play. Players you've already locked into other matches via USTA show as "Scheduled" and count automatically.
Match data looks stale or wrong.
Tap the Sync button in the team selector to force a fresh pull from TennisRecord and USTA NorCal. The daily cron runs at 4 AM PT, so most data refreshes nightly. If a specific match score is missing or wrong, it's usually because USTA NorCal hasn't posted the scorecard yet — those are entered manually by team captains and can lag 24–48 hours.
Push notifications aren't working.
iOS only: open Settings → Notifications → MatchPoint and confirm Allow Notifications is on. Then in the app, open the team menu → "Notifications · Debug" and tap Send Test. If you don't receive the test push, force-quit and reopen the app to re-register your device — most registration issues clear on relaunch. Still nothing? Email us with the diagnostic info shown on the debug page.
How do I share a lineup with my co-captain?
On the Lineup card, tap Lock to commit to the lineup. Then tap Share → "Send brief link." This generates an auth-required URL your co-captain can open to see the full match brief — your lineup, opponent prediction, head-to-heads, positional intel. The link only works for users on your team in Supabase.
How do I copy the lineup for WhatsApp?
Tap Share → "Copy lineup text." Paste into your team's WhatsApp thread. The text includes match date, home/away, start times per court (if your match has split-time starts), and player pairings.
How do I delete my account or remove my data?
Email us at matchpoint-admins@googlegroups.com from the address tied to your account (or include your phone number) and we'll delete your profile, USTA credentials, and any team data unique to you within 7 days. Public match data scraped from TennisRecord and USTA NorCal stays in our cache (it's not personal to you — it's the same data anyone can see on those public sites).
Coverage
MatchPoint supports USTA NorCal leagues: Adult 18 & Over, 40 & Over, 55 & Over, 65 & Over, Daytime, Combo, and Mixed. Lineup format, playoff eligibility and ratings all adapt to your league automatically — a Combo team gets three doubles lines and no singles, and its own Combo rating separate from your NTRP.
Other USTA regions (SoCal, Texas, etc.) are not yet supported. If you captain a team outside NorCal and want to be on the waitlist, email us.
