USTA NorCal dynamic ratings, with the matches behind them

Look up any NorCal league player’s estimated dynamic rating and see which matches moved it.

MatchPoint's numbers are independent estimates built from published USTA NorCal league results. They are not the ratings USTA calculates, MatchPoint is not affiliated with USTA, and an estimate here can't be used for a rating appeal.

What is a USTA dynamic rating?

During local league play, USTA keeps a dynamic rating for every player, calculated to the hundredth of a point. USTA does not publish or share it. What players see is their year-end NTRP level, published each December in half-point steps such as 3.5 or 4.0.

How USTA sets your year-end level

A year-end rating needs at least three valid matches. It starts from your previous year-end rating, kept to the hundredth, which USTA calls your start rating.

Each result compares the actual score with the outcome expected from everyone's dynamic ratings. That is why you can lose and go up, or win and go down. Your win-loss record and the court you play on don't count directly.

USTA counts mixed doubles results only for players who play exclusively mixed.

Self-rated and computer-rated players

A self-rated player can be moved up during the year after three strikes: three dynamic ratings clearly above their level. A computer-rated player can't be dynamically disqualified.

How MatchPoint estimates yours

We start from your official year-end NTRP level and replay every published NorCal league match since, daily: who you played, how they are rated, and the score. Beating someone rated well above you moves the estimate more than beating someone below you, and a close match counts differently from a lopsided one. When USTA publishes year-end levels, each estimate is pulled back toward the official one, so it can't drift.

Combo and mixed matches get their own separate ratings. They never move your estimated dynamic rating, which follows adult singles and doubles only.

Will I move up or down?

A profile shows a move-up or move-down likelihood only when our model is at least 80% confident. The model weighs how far your estimated dynamic rating sits from your current level, how many matches you have played this year, your win rate and your recent form. It is our estimate of what USTA will publish in December, not USTA's decision.

Questions

Is this my official USTA rating?
No. It is an independent estimate. Your official rating is the year-end NTRP level USTA publishes each December. USTA's policy is that ratings from outside services are not NTRP ratings and can't be used for appeals.
Can I see my real USTA dynamic rating?
No. USTA calculates it during local play but does not publish or share it. MatchPoint's estimate is built from the same published results, so you can see which matches moved it.
Why didn't my combo or mixed matches change my estimate?
Your estimated dynamic rating follows adult singles and doubles only. Combo and mixed results move their own separate ratings, which are shown on your profile.
How often is it updated?
Daily. New published results usually appear on a profile within a day of being posted.
